I sometimes work in Massachusetts, where the gas tax is quite a bit lower. Naturally, I end up planning as many of my gas purchases as I can for when I'm in Massachusetts.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Realistically, market forces are the main cause of high gas prices (surging demand in China, India, etc.).
